YOUTH MINISTRIES AND CONGREGATIONAL LIFE COORDINATOR/PASTOR

Calvary CRC in Orange City, Iowa, is seeking a mature Christian to assist our Senior Pastor in ministry to our growing congregation. SUMMARY:
A primary focus of this position is to develop and direct the youth and young adult ministries at Calvary, encouraging young people in their walk with God, guiding them toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, fostering in them a desire to publicly profess their faith, and enfolding them into the life and work of the church. Another focus is working with existing committees to support corporate and small group gatherings, promote opportunities for continuous spiritual growth, encourage the fellowship of believers among God’s people at Calvary, and enable young and old alike to recognize and apply their spiritual gifts by helping them find their ministry among God’s people. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Membership and covenant – will maintain church membership at Calvary CRC, adhere to the doctrinal standards of the church, and agree with the Statement of Belief adopted by the Council.
  • Evidence of faith – will demonstrate clear indications of an authentic belief in, and relationship with, Jesus Christ.
  • Ordination – being ordained in a Reformed denomination is compelling, but not mandatory.
  • Experience – should have experience planning activities and events, working with young people, and nurturing others in the Christian faith.
  • Communication – should be able to work well with others, communicate clearly, and establish healthy relationships with staff and fellow church members.
  • Education and training – should have a Bible college degree, a bachelor’s degree in theology, or an exceptional
    giftedness in Biblical knowledge and teaching. Specific training in small group leadership and the ability to teach
    leadership skills is also a plus.
  • Abilities – should possess excellent organization and supervision skills, as well as an ability to affect growth and transformation in youth and young adults.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as an ex officio member of the Youth Committee.
  • Support youth group leaders by providing spiritual direction and helping select doctrinally sound Bible Study materials.
  • Aid in discipling youth and young adults in their walk with Christ, teaching them to build healthy relationships within the family of God.
  • Help plan youth and young adult retreats and service projects.
  • Integrate praise and worship into youth and young adult gatherings.
  • Encounter emerging adults in their own contexts, providing hospitality and opportunities for fellowship.
  • Serve as ex officio member of the Fellowship Committee
  • Foster relationships within the congregation.
  • Help enfold new and existing members into the life and work of the church.
  • Guide existing small groups and generate a cadence of small group organization and development.
  • Keep and help deploy an inventory of the congregation’s gifts & talents, enabling all members to discover their ministry within the church or community.

REMUNERATION:
As established in a written agreement between Calvary CRC and the staff member filling this role, reviewed annually during the church’s budget planning process.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Works in conjunction with the lead pastor; reports monthly to the Council.
  • Takes part in an annual review of the position with the Executive Committee.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings.
